A DESIGNER'S AID FOR CHECKING BARRIER-FREE ROOM LAYOUTS Architects concerned with designing buildings that will be “accessible to and usable by the physically handicapped” will find the Bobrick “Wheelchair Maneuverability Drawing Template” (WMDT) a helpful tool at the drawing board.
This copyrighted Template is made of heavy, clear plastic with graphics and dimensional information printed in black. A plan view of a person in a wheelchair is shown in three scales, as follows 1/8" = 1'; and 1/2" = 1'. Ratios for metric equivalents are also included.
By maneuvering the Wheelchair Template (using the proper scale) over the drawing, it is easy to check if adequate space in the area in front of the lavatories and the approach to and interior of toilet partitions. This Bobrick “Wheelchair Maneuverability Drawing Template” is available without charge form your local Bobrick Architectural Representative.
Also available, is Bobrick's “Barrier-Free Washroom Planning Guide” for Designing Washroom Facilities for the Physically Handicapped, a 20 page brochure (BFPG-01) with diagrams and descriptions of suggested washroom accessories, toilet partitions and shower rooms that conform to new regulations for barrier-free design.
See attached bulletin for drawings.
